About the Position

We are currently seeking a Project Safety Lead to join the Pilbara Projects team. This role is pivotal in overseeing and supporting high-risk field activities, providing leadership to EPCM safety teams, and ensuring alignment with Rio Tinto’s safety frameworks. You will act as the critical link between project delivery and site operations over the course of a five-year expansion portfolio.

Key Responsibilities Include

· Lead field-based safety leadership across multiple major projects

· Oversee and coach EPCM safety performance and compliance

· Champion the implementation of critical risk and fatality prevention programs

· Coordinate and mentor teams in safety systems, audits, and investigations

· Support interface alignment between EPCM contractors and operations

· Provide timely safety reporting, analytics, and field scheduling

· Drive continuous improvement of safety practices and culture

· Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver compliant and effective HSE outcomes

Skills and Experience Required

· Proven HSE leadership experience on major construction or mining projects

· Strong understanding of project lifecycle (concept to commissioning)

· Expertise in critical risk management and incident investigation (ICAM preferred)

· High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills

· Experience mentoring, coaching, and auditing field teams

· Solid working knowledge of HSEQ systems, standards, and legislation

· Ability to influence safety culture across contractors and internal teams

· Certificate IV in WHS (minimum), diploma desirable
