At St Anthony’s Family Care (SAFC) in Croydon, we’re on the lookout for a part-time Support Worker Lead to take charge of our exciting Forge Day Program, designed specifically for young adults between 16-26 years old with a disability.
Our vibrant program runs from our fabulous new, purpose-built facility, where fun meets learning. We support participants to pursue their individual goals and interests through a variety of activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, self-help skills, and gardening. We also enjoy regular outings to local spots like parks, beaches, museums, and cinemas.

About the Role:
As Support Worker Lead, you’ll play a key role in guiding our team to provide truly tailored support for participants in areas like self-care, meal prep, community outings, and skill-building adventures across various settings.
This is a hands-on leadership role where the majority of your time will be spent directly supporting participants, with some time allocated to administrative tasks and team coordination.
This is a permanent part time role (70 hours per fortnight), with a schedule from Monday to Friday, between the span of hours - 8:00am to 6:00 pm.
We are looking for:
A Support Worker Lead, who will keep SAFC’s high standards while building strong relationships with participants, their families, support workers, and other key stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for supervising and inspiring our team, supporting their professional growth, collaborating with management, and ensuring the facility is organised and welcoming.
Experience in working with people with disabilities, challenging behaviours, and complex physical disabilities.
Essential Requirements
Relevant experience, qualifications, and training in community services, health, welfare or similar.
Experience leading and managing a team of support workers in a day program.
The ability to apply a high level of attention to detail, along with willingness to learn.
Demonstrated computer skills including using MS software and the ability to use client management systems, database, and rostering systems.
Ability to work as part of the team and demonstrate leadership ability.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Able to effectively communicate in spoken and written English.
A positive attitude towards people with a disability and a comprehensive understanding of NDIS.
A Current and Valid Australian Driver’s License & Full Comprehensive Insurance
Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (required before you start)
NDIS Workers Screening Check/Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
NDIS Worker Orientation Module “Quality, Safety and You” Certificate
Demonstrated ability to provide support in personal care, domestic assistance, meal preparation, transport, community participation, Centre maintenance and medication administration to participants.
Self-motivation and hands on approach is required.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting our team to positively support our client's routines/care plans in a flexible manner, with a hands- on approach.
This includes:
Implementing daily activities that align with individual and group goals for participants.
Monitor and evaluate the program to ensure it meets participants’ needs and objectives, adjusting as required.
Lead, motivate, and support a team of Disability Support Workers to deliver high-quality, person-centered care.
Oversee the delivery of support that fosters skill development, independence, and community involvement for each participant.
Address participant concerns and behavioural challenges, implementing strategies to promote positive outcomes.
providing care and support to participants with a diverse range of needs which may include complex behaviours
providing personal care, administering medication, meal preparation, housekeeping and participating in a range of activities both in the centre and the community.
Assist and encourage the positive development of skills and abilities in all areas of the participant’s life including assisting participants in achieving their goals and reach desired outcomes.
Have an understanding of the Disability Services and Inclusion Act, the NDIS Safeguarding Commission Framework, and the NDIS Code of Conduct.
Complete all documentation in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensure compliance with relevant policies, standards, and regulations, including safety and risk management protocols.
Manage critical incidences as they arise including debriefing and engaging with internal support services
Address and mitigate any risks and complete documentation as required
