About the role:
Our team in Hornsby is hiring permanent Support Workers for our Hornsby Day Program. The site offers Life Skills, Work and Study, Skills for Life and Recreation. We seek individuals dedicated to promoting the independence and inclusion of people with disabilities, helping them have a voice and achieve their personal goals.
The role offers a minimum of four days a week, with shifts from 9 AM to 3 PM, and Thursdays Skills for Life until 6:45 PM and opportunities for Friday nights or Saturday shifts.
Role Requirements:
- Experience facilitating group activities, e.g. art, playing an instrument, drama, and gardening.
- Challenging Behaviour Experience.
- Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm; weekends are a must.
Typical duties might include:
- Empower the support staff to establish effective communication with customers using an individualised approach, using whatever means of communication is appropriate for each individual.
- Implementing and reviewing Individual Program Plans.
- Devise and facilitate program activities and workshops with customers and other support staff.
- Supporting customers with intellectual disability, autism and some physical disabilities
Position Description
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Valid working rights.
- A current Driver's Licence and confidence to drive an accessible van.
- NSW Working with Children Check NSW.
- NDIS Worker Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Health Assessment
