Links to Life specializes in skill development through Positive Behaviour Support. We are currently looking for a male Mental Health Support Worker to support a young boy with Autism, working in community settings and the family home across Western Sydney.
About the Role
We are seeking a male Mental Health Support Worker to provide consistent, structured support to a young client, following an individualized behaviour support plan and working closely with experienced Behavioural Practitioners.
Your role will involve:
- Providing intentional engagement and meaningful interactions
- Supporting the client with daily routines and activities aligned with NDIS goals
- Encouraging the development of life skills, confidence, and independence
- Acting as a stable and supportive presence for the young person and Behavioural Specialist
- Supporting sessions in family homes and local community settings
- Remaining calm in challenging situations and responding to behaviours with care and structure
What We're Looking For
- A male support worker, as requested by the client's family
- Experience or genuine interest in working with young people with Autism, ADHD, or ODD
- A calm, energetic, and engaging personality - someone who connects well with young people
- Ability to follow a structured behaviour support plan under specialist guidance
- Confidence in maintaining safe, structured, and positive environments
- Currently studying (or have studied) in Psychology, Social Work, Youth Work, Disability, Special Education, or a related field (preferred but not essential)
What's in It for You?
- Consistent, ongoing work with flexibility to fit around your study or other commitments
- Casual hourly rate: $34 - $42 per hour (depending on experience, under the SCHADS Award)
- Full client-specific training (approximately 10 hours) provided before starting
- Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in behaviour support and mental health
- Minimum availability: 6-12 hours per week (mornings or afternoons)
