Peewees Family Support Program
PeeWees is a free service that offers support to families when they need it. We offer a supported playgroup each week along with other informal groups/workshops, including parenting education, resilience building, cooking, budgeting and health and wellbeing.
The PeeWees program is coordinated by two family support workers and operates Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The program is run by Wesley Mission Queensland and is funded by the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs.
About the Role
The Family Support Worker will provide a supported playgroup to families that meet the eligible target group to build social skills and connections, enhance parenting skills and increase knowledge of early childhood development.
Further to this, the Family Support Worker will provide a variety of evidence based educational groups to increase, life skills, mental health & wellbeing, household management and parenting skills.
Key Role Accountabilities:
Align one’s workplace behaviour in accordance with the WMQ Model of Care, the Wesley Charter and Wesley Mission Queensland’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
Develop, implement and evaluate educational parenting programs, supported playgroups and other well-being focused programs to enhance social skills and connections for parents and their children
Build strong working relationships with stakeholders, community organisations and other relevant services
Adhere to all WHS regulations and legislation and ensure that Peewees is a safe space for all.
Contribute to planning, meetings, and continuous improvement of the program.
About You
Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in the related field.
An understanding of Early Childhood development.
High level of knowledge of the issues facing families in the Beenleigh, Eagleby and surrounding areas.
An ability to develop professional relationships with parents and children which will form part of the basis for support, empowerment, and growth.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and the capability to work independently and take the initiative when required.
Willingness to promote social justice and equality by demonstrating an attitude of acceptance and respect for all families and children.
Current First Aid certificate.
