The Country Universities Centre Western Downs is seeking a passionate and proactive Student Services Coordinator to join our team, helping to deliver high-quality support services to university students studying locally. This rewarding role supports the academic success, wellbeing, and engagement of university students studying locally through our Centre.

About the Role

Reporting to the Centre Manager, you’ll play a vital role in providing both administrative and student-facing support. From coordinating day-to-day operations to delivering tailored support sessions, you’ll help shape a welcoming and inclusive environment for students from all walks of life.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing high-level administrative support to the Centre Manager.

Providing one-on-one academic mentoring to students, including support with study skills, referencing, writing, and assessments.

Assisting in the planning and execution of events and programs that build student wellbeing, connection and success.

Supporting initiatives that enhance student satisfaction, engagement, and retention.

Identify students at risk and provide appropriate interventions and referrals.

Liaise with university staff and external stakeholders for exams and academic coordination.

Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and well-organised learning space.

Support communication across social media and digital platforms.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about education and understands the unique needs of regional students.

Essential:

Undergraduate degree (preferably in Education, Arts, Social Sciences, Linguistics, or similar)

Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills

Recent university-level study with strong academic results or experience in student services

Confident presenting and facilitating workshops or study sessions

Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Able to work independently and take initiative

High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general data reporting and social media platforms.

A current driver’s licence and a Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)

High attention to detail and cleanliness

A passion for creating opportunities for regional students

Desirable:

Previous experience in a similar education or student support role

First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certification

Familiarity with Canva, WordPress, or Xero Accounting Software

Working Relationships

You'll work closely with:

Centre Manager: For operational guidance, communication, and support

Students: To deliver support services and foster engagement

Academic institutions: Assisting with exams, academic coordination, and student progression
