We’re looking for a Track Manager to lead our grounds staff and oversee the day-to-day operations at Mowbray Racecourse in Launceston.
In this role, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of the racecourse, ensuring the maintenance of all racing facilities and infrastructure across all three codes. Leading a small, dedicated team, you’ll play a key role in fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, driving excellence in track and facilities management.

The Role:
This role is more than just turf, it’s about fostering a culture of teamwork, excellence, and pride in delivering high-quality racing and training facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead, inspire, and re-engage the grounds staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Track Maintenance: Plan and oversee maintenance and restoration programs for three tracks to ensure high racing standards.
Facility Management: Coordinate and manage assets, infrastructure, and daily operations of racing and training facilities, including worker rostering.
Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and success.
Budget Management: Prepare budgets and provide detailed budget reporting to senior management.
Policy Implementation: Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline operations.
Workplace Safety: Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety Management Systems to provide a safe working environment.
About You:
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
Relevant Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications and at least 3 years of experience in turf management.
Leadership Experience: A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, with a proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
Communication Skills: Sound written and verbal communication, with the ability to handle sensitive matters tactfully and confidentially.
Commitment and Flexibility: Availability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.
Tech Savviness: Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office programs.
Driver’s Licence: A current C Class driver’s licence.
Racing Industry Knowledge (Desirable): Familiarity with the racing industry and prior experience in a similar role will be highly regarded.
