The Opportunity

Yiliyapinya Indigenous Corporation is seeking a Casual Senior Youth Worker (Identified) for three months to join our team in Oxley and Inala, QLD. This 3 month contract role will involve working with young people in our community, providing support and guidance to help them reach their full potential.

Engage with young people and their families to understand their needs and provide appropriate support and services

Transporting young people between home and required activities in company vehicle

Facilitate engaging youth programs and activities, tailored to the interests and requirements of the young people including physical activities

Collaborate with other youth services and organisations to deliver holistic support to young people

Maintain accurate records and report on the progress and outcomes of youth programs

Ensure all activities are delivered in a safe, inclusive and culturally appropriate manner

What we're looking for

Significant experience working in a youth services or community development role

Strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people, particularly in an Indigenous community context

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with young people

Creative and adaptable approach to engaging young people and delivering youth programs

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Relevant tertiary qualifications in youth work, social work or a related field

Cultural awareness and sensitivity, with a commitment to working in a way that is respectful and inclusive of Indigenous culture

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
