Barkly AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) Service

Barkly AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) Service is a specialist, nurse-led service that operates within a trauma informed practice, harm minimisation model of care. The service provides specialised assessment, treatment and referral and a non-residential counselling service for people with alcohol, drugs, and volatile substances.

About the Role

As the Nurse Clinical Coordinator (AOD), you will provide clinical leadership, conduct a range of assessments, provide therapeutic interventions, case management and education on issues relating to addiction including treatment options to staff, clients, and family members, other agencies and community services using evidenced based practice.

You’ll work within a multi-disciplinary team supporting Tennant Creek Hospital, the township of Tennant Creek with remote travel to support the Barkly Remote communities.

About you

You’re a skilled AOD clinician with a strong foundation and leadership skills ready to support regional and remote communities. To be successful in this role you’ll have:

Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.

High-level clinical knowledge and skills in AOD or related field, supported by strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation such as Volatile Substance Abuse (VSA) Act and AOD theoretical frameworks.

Ability to travel to remote communities by 4WD or light aircraft as required

Hold a current NT driver’s licence (or eligible to obtain) and be confident driving a manual vehicle in regional and remote settings
