About the role
The Workshop Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process of our scenery workshop facility and to drive our production processes forward. Our workshop is located in Adelaide, South Australia.
The objectives of the Workshop Manager is their ability to communicate effectively with clients to deliver a shared vision, create and deliver budgets for all project works carried out in the workshop, keeping track of overheads and budgeting for capitol works.
What you'll be doing
Oversee the manufacturing process: responsible for ensuring that the production process runs smoothly and efficiently. They oversee all aspects, including scheduling, inventory management, quality control and workshop personnel management.
Manage staff: Will manage a team of employees, providing leadership and guidance to ensure that they are meeting production targets and high quality standards. They will delegate appropriate personnel to oversee and coordinate schedule requirements and ensure timeframes are met.
Review Equipment: Ensure that all manufacturing equipment and tools are in good working order and coordinate with personnel to ensure regular reviews of routine maintenance, repairs and replacement of machinery and equipment is carried out regularly.
Develop and Implement Processes: will develop and implement manufacturing processes that are efficient and effective. They will identify areas of improvement and implement necessary changes to increase productivity and quality.
Monitor inventory Levels: They will monitor stock levels of materials, finished goods and supplies. They will oversee and coordinate with purchasing personnel to ensure inventory levels are optimised and maintained.
Ensure Quality Control: oversee that all manufactured products meet the required quality standards. They will implement quality control measures to ensure products are of the highest quality.
Maintain Safety Standards: ensure that all safety standards and documentation requirements are met in the workshop. They will identify potential safety hazards and direct allocated staff to implement measures to mitigate them.
Communications: regular communication and provide up-to date information to the company General Manager and the CEO. Ensure company information is provided to all staff.
Budget and Cost Management: will create and deliver budgets for projects, budgets for capitol works, and manage the workshop budget, including forecasting, planning & tracking expenses. They will identify opportunities for cost reduction and implement measures to increase efficiency and reduce waste
About You
This critical role requires that you must be highly skilled in management, communication and manufacturing processes, with a strong focus on safety, quality and efficiency. You have a focus on delivering efficient processes, meeting production targets and maintaining quality standards, all within budget and enjoy the responsibility of guiding staff to deliver the same successful outcomes.
Key personal skills
Bachelor’s Degree or workplace equivalent in engineering, manufacturing or a related field.
Proven experience as a manufacturing workshop manager or similar role.
Strong leadership and management skills.
Knowledge and ability to utilise drawing programs to a proficient level, such as 3D CAD, Inventor or SolidWorks.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
High attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead a team of employees and work collaboratively with cross functional teams to achieve company goals.
