About Us
The Central Australian Aboriginal Alcohol Programme Unit (CAAAPU) operates a 30-bed residential alcohol and other drug rehabilitation facility in Alice Springs. We are dedicated to offering culturally sensitive and comprehensive support to Aboriginal people. CAAAPU provides a pathway to recovery and independence through tailored rehabilitation programmes.
As a local Indigenous organisation we are a centre for empowerment and a place of health and healing. CAAAPU is situated 7 minutes from town on a large beautifully landscaped property. We boast a welcoming and professional staff.
About the Opportunity
CAAAPU invites applications for Casual Cook to provide comfort food for to up to 30 residents for their evening meal. The hours are Monday to Friday 3.30 - 7.30pm.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparation and service of meals to residents
Carry out duties in accordance with CAAAPU's safety policy, safety principles, corporate values and strategies.
Ensure that adequate supplies of foodstuffs are properly protected and conserved.
Ensure the kitchen meets the requirements of the Australian Food Safety Assessment.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
About You
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year experience as a Chef / Cook and / or have formal culinary training or relevant qualifications. Have experience maintaining food safety and kitchen hygiene practices. Have a Food Supervision Certificate or willing to obtain one.
A current Drivers Licence, First Aid Certificate, Working with Children Check and a Police Clearance are a requirement for the role.
Attention to quality and detail, empathy, and cultural sensitivity are essential qualities for success in this role.
