We’re pleased to announce the latest opportunity at Blok Freight for an Operations Manager.

We’re looking for an energetic and motivated individual to take on the task of Murwillumbah Operations Manager for our growing final mile, freight and logistics business here in the Northern Rivers.

This is an important leadership role for the right candidate to drive continued success in our quality, culture and growing our profitability.

A strong record of accomplishment in leadership and people management is important, along with a demonstrated passion for sales growth, service excellence, energy, and understanding the importance of what it takes to achieve sustainable profit.

Getting to know Blok Freight (MFS)

Since 1992, McLean’s Freight Service or MFS soon to be known as Blok Freight has been servicing the Northern Rivers with time critical, parcel express and bulk freight services. Blok Freight/MFS is a family and locally owned company, with huge ambitions to grow.

The business currently operates in two facilities in Lismore and Murwillumbah, however we have some big targets coming in 2025, including a brand new depot in Murwillumbah. We currently employ over 70 people with a fleet of 50 vehicles that covers South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. You will be joining a can-do group of people who all share the same passion of under promising and over delivering for our customers and the community.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

· A passion for our business

· At least 5 years’ experience in courier or freight logistics

· Someone not afraid to set the bar high and challenge the status quo

What is the role all about?

We have moved into a newly built branch in Murwillumbah with the objective to expand our operations - bringing an exciting career opportunity for an Operations Manager to champion our Murwillumbah team. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is defaulted to be hands on. To lead by example and be a positive influence in our evolution. We want you to share our passion for our business and bring an energy and drive to keep our team consistently delivering top tier service.

Duties and responsibilities

· Manage daily operations: employee rostering, delivery schedules and freight dispatching.

· Promote a safe workplace and maintain compliance with industry standards

· Updating procedures and improving the new depot - SOPs

· Ensure customer expectations, ETA’s and requests are met daily.

· Monitor and control expenses through cost- effectiveness and improving efficiency.

· Assist in training staff, uphold a positive working environment and caring for your team’s wellbeing.

· Collaborate with our management team to develop improvement strategies.

Your skills and experience

· Well-developed leadership experience as an Operations Manager or similar role in the logistics / parcel industry.

· Understanding of National Heavy Vehicle Regulator legislations.

· Immaculate presentation and understanding that this is an important part of our business for people, buildings and fleet.

· Ability to work and produce results under pressure.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and team members.

· Be a proactive, solution-based thinker who can prioritize, adapt and problem solve.

· Licensed to operate a forklift, with heavy vehicle licence desirable
