In collaboration with the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC), we are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to take on the role of CEO for a newly formed peak tourism body - South Australia’s Mid North and Yorke Ltd.

As CEO, you will play a key role in leading this newly formed entity which will be committed to representing and coordinating tourism development across the Clare Valley, Yorke Peninsula and Southern Flinders regions. This role will see you working closely with local businesses, government bodies and the SATC for the purpose of growing and maintaining a sustainable visitor economy across the region.

Initially this role will have 1-2 direct reports, with an expectation this number will grow as the position expands. This role will be governed and supported by a newly appointed Board of Directors. As this is a newly formed entity servicing a larger regional area, there is the ability to work from home with the potential for offices to be made available for use with stakeholders across the region.

As CEO you will be responsible for:

Strategic leadership and governance: In collaboration with the Board, develop and implement a strategic vision for the purpose of driving tourism across the Clare Valley, Yorke Peninsula and Southern Flinders regions.

Industry engagement and stakeholder collaboration: Collaborate with communities, businesses and local government to support the development and implementation of local tourism initiatives (aligned to the overall strategic vision). Furthermore, act as a conduit between these stakeholders and the SATC to further align these tourism strategies across the region.

Product development and industry capability building: Identify market opportunities and support the development and implementation of initiatives that provide net positive outcomes to regional communities and the regions’ tourism industry more broadly.

Financial and operational management: Oversee financial planning, budgeting and reporting ensuring transparency and fiscal responsibility. Lead and manage the day to day operations, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve key objectives and ensure operational continuity. This includes proactively securing and managing funding partnerships and projects that grow the visitor economy and diversify the organisation’s revenue.

About you

This role would suit a senior leader with proven experience ideally within tourism, economic development, regional development or related field. It would be advantageous to be located within one of the regions.

Your skills and experience include:

Tertiary qualifications in Business, Tourism, Commerce, Marketing or related field

Demonstrated ability for business planning, fostering growth and delivering on a strategic long-term vision

Experience in financial, governance, risk management and reporting, including working with a Board of Directors

Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to advocate and negotiate with diverse audiences including government, industry and community stakeholders
