📍 Sydney CBD | $55–$72/hr + Super | Contract position| Hybrid (3 office / 2 WFH) | Potential to apply for permanent position.

A well-established and progressive local government organisation is seeking a skilled Management Accountant to join its finance team on a contract basis — with a strong possibility of applying for their permanent role within 3–6 months.

This is a great opportunity to work in a high-performing, collaborative environment where your work has real community impact. You will partner closely with stakeholders across the organisation to support budgeting, performance reporting, project costing, and strategic decision-making.

Key duties:

Prepare monthly financial reports with detailed variance analysis and performance insights

Coordinate budgets and forecasts aligned with organisational goals

Provide financial modelling and business case support for strategic initiatives

Maintain and enhance activity-based costing models for service transparency

Conduct ad hoc analysis to support operations and long-term planning

Drive process improvements and deliver training to improve financial capability

Act as a finance business partner, building strong cross-functional relationships

About you:

CPA or CA qualified, with proven experience in management reporting and budgeting in Government or within a large organisation.

Strong analytical skills and financial modelling experience

Confident in stakeholder engagement and business partnering

Comfortable with financial systems and data tools

A proactive problem-solver who looks for ways to improve and innovate
