At Wangaratta City Council, we’re seeking dedicated and compassionate Domestic Care Workers to support older people, people living with disabilities, and their carers to live independently, safely, and confidently in their own homes and communities.
This is more than a job — it’s your opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of people who need it most.
About the Role
As a Domestic Care Worker, you’ll deliver high-quality, person-centred support based on individual service plans. You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining your clients’ independence and quality of life by assisting with daily household tasks such as:
Dishwashing, mopping, vacuuming, and general home cleaning
Changing bed linen, laundry, and ironing
Unaccompanied shopping trips
Cleaning kitchens and bathrooms
You’ll also monitor client well-being and morale, supporting a wellness and reablement approach that encourages independence and skill-building.
Why This Role is So Important
You’re not just helping around the house — you’re providing emotional support, noticing changes in health or circumstances, and being a trusted, consistent presence. You’ll often work independently but are always backed by a caring, supportive team.
Your work ensures that clients:
Stay connected to their homes and communities
Remain safe, comfortable, and empowered
Receive care with dignity, respect, and professionalism
What You’ll Need
We’re looking for someone who is:
Compassionate and respectful, with a strong understanding of privacy and dignity
Physically capable and experienced in domestic support tasks
Organised and reliable, with strong time-management skills
Comfortable working autonomously and making sound decisions
Skilled in monitoring and reporting changes in client well-being
Essential requirements include:
A current driver licence and reliable, registered, and insured vehicle
Willingness to undergo a Police Record Check
Relevant immunisation and vaccination status
Good availability on weekdays, and flexibility for some evening/weekend work
Experience in aged or disability care, while not essential, is highly desirable.
What You’ll Gain
A rewarding role in a values-driven organisation that truly supports its staff
Ongoing training, support, and opportunities to grow
The satisfaction of knowing your work makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives
Flexibility, variety, and autonomy in your day-to-day work
