About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Goodna Clinic was established in 2014 in response to the large and unmet health and related needs of a large and growing population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Goodna region.

About the Role?

As a first point of contact the Welcome Officer is required to ensure the patient flow is conducted with minimal interruptions by effectively using time management skills, informative communication skills while observing the overall demeanour of the patients entering and exiting our services.

Your day-to-day duties may include:

  • Monitor and co-ordinate client flow, following up with Pod reception/clinicians to minimize wait times and return visits for clients.
  • Attend to the comfort and information needs of clients in the waiting room.
  • Meet and greet clients and show them through to their Pod/Consult room or warm handover space if needed.
  • Yarn with new clients to collect essential data and explain HWW role and Pod system.
  • Respond to onsite client enquiries, feedback or concerns.
  • Screen for infectious or acute conditions (e.g. Covid, flu, heart conditions), provide sanitizer/PPE, instructions or escalate for treatment as needed.

About You?

  • Current Blue Card (Or willing to apply)
  • Current Criminal History check (Or willing to apply)
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
  • Current CPR Certificate

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
