About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Quality and Innovation team provides clinical oversight and support to IUIH member services and is responsible for the service development and delivery of urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and family wellbeing care. This diverse team includes IUIH Goodna, Policy, and Regional Clinical Support.

About the Role?

The Health and Wellbeing Worker role is designed to walk along side of clients in their autonomous access and use of culturally responsive holistic primary care. IUIH Goodna Clinic is currently piloting Pod model of care that we envision will improve the health status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The successful applicant for this position, will be willing to contribute innovative thinking as well as be flexible and adaptive to change. Day to Day Duties:

· Connecting and yarning with clients and families to the service to collect, collate and update their stories

· Provide health information and education to clients and families which promotes autonomy and choice

· Work alongside clients and families in their goal setting and prioritization of health and social needs and ultimately implementing deadly plans

· Responding to clients and families at times of heightened need to prevent and/or avert episodes of crisis

About You?

  • Current QLD Blue Card – required prior to your commencement
  • Demonstrate an understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait people and their health
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and to effectively engage with Community built on mutual respect and regard
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
  • Criminal History Check
  • CPR Certificate

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
