The Service
Commitment to strengthening social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Indigenous Advancement Strategy program aims to develop strong, healthy and resilient individuals, families and communities which will enhance pathways to education and employment and reduce substance abuse, violence and contact with the criminal justice system.
The Role
A Few Specifics

  • Provide thorough support focusing on Indigenous wellbeing, community safety, and addressing intergenerational trauma within Aboriginal communities.
  • Actively engage clients, manage referrals, respond to crisis, maintain documentation, and co-facilitate educational sessions for groups and community events.
  • Manage a small caseload, including identified case management requirements, and contribute to integrated service responses for Aboriginal families.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring cultural sensitivity in all interactions
  • Assist with the development of family camps, women’s groups and youth groups.

About You

  • Minimum Certificate III in Community Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health or equivalent.
  • Experience and knowledge working with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities.
  • Experience in administration and case management.
  • Experience living and working in a remote / regional community.
  • Exhibit a client-centered, conscientious care approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • National Police Certificate.
