The Role
We now invite applications for a passionate and dedicated Student Pathways Advisor to join our dynamic team on a permanent basis from Monday, 14 July 2025. This is a part-time position (approximately 0.4-5 FTE), where you will play a pivotal part in guiding students to select their career pathway.
The Student Pathways Advisor role may be classified as either a Teacher or as a School Officer (without Teacher Qualifications) remunerated at School Officer Level 7 (depending on qualifications).
We are looking for a candidate with the experience and skills to:
Ensure that directions, developments and activities in careers, vocational education and training (VET), on and off campus academic opportunities are available to St Andrews students.
Provide career information and vocational advice to students and participate in careers for students and parents.
Develop and coordinate the College career education program (DESTINATIONS) and work with students to explore career options, develop a career plan, and make proactive career decisions that are based on their abilities, interests, work values, personality and external influences. Coordinate Pathways interviews with students and families (particularly Year 10 students in relation to SET Plans), and lead or arrange professional development as required for staff conducting SET Plan interviews.
Administer, manage and monitor students who leave our campus to participate in External Programs that provide students with a Nationally Recognised Qualification and a QCAA approved course. These include School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships and External Courses (e.g. TAFE Gold Coast and the Gold Coast Trades College).
Manage and supervise students following courses of study with the Schools of Distance Education.
The successful applicant will be required to have:
Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
Knowledge of the QCAA syllabus requirements for Year 11 and 12, and the Australian Curriculum.
Knowledge of the QCAA requirements in terms of QCE.
Knowledge of VET courses, school-based traineeships.
Knowledge of career pathway prerequisites and avenues.
Demonstrated high level organisational ability.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationship with students, staff, parents and the other community members.
Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication for a range of specific purposes and audiences.
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate resources, set priorities and achieve outcomes.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Information and Communication Technologies in pedagogical practice.
Demonstrated active contribution to extra-curricular programs.
Graduate Certificate or equivalent and appropriate and recognised qualification in the field of career development as outlined in the Professional Standards for Career Development Practitioners.
Please note: The successful applicant will have either, registration with the Queensland College of Teachers, and Professional qualifications in Education if appointed as Student Pathways Advisor (Teacher), or, possess a current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card for paid employees before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government, if appointed as a School Officer (without Teacher Qualifications).
