Goldfish & Bay is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, renowned for its commitment to excellence, creativity, and client satisfaction. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-focused Accounts Administrator to join our finance and administration team in a part-time capacity.
Reporting directly to the Senior Accounts Administrator, this is a supportive role that plays an essential part in our day-to-day financial operations. Your primary focus will be managing accounts receivable and client payment follow-ups, alongside assisting with payroll, compliance obligations, and general bookkeeping.
This role is ideal for someone with strong interpersonal skills who is comfortable following up on overdue accounts, managing sensitive information, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders. It provides a clear pathway for progression into a more senior role over time and offers excellent exposure to end-to-end financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable & Payment Follow-Up
Monitor outstanding payments, issue reminders, and escalate unpaid accounts as required
Maintain the aged debtors report and keep accurate records of communication
Liaise with clients regarding invoices, payment disputes, and account reconciliations
Support the Senior Accounts Administrator with debtor analysis and cash flow forecasting
Support with Payroll & Statutory Reporting
Handling and approving employee leave requests and assist with payroll processing
Ensure records are accurate and assist in compliance reporting
Bookkeeping & Financial Administration
Process transactions including supplier invoices and petty cash
Assist with reconciliations and support financial reporting and audits
Security of Payment Act (SOPA) Compliance
Assist with issuing payment claims and tracking statutory deadlines
Work with legal advisors during adjudication processes
Administrative & Internal Support
Assist with data entry, document filing, and general admin tasks
Support internal systems and help maintain compliance with financial procedures
Required Experience:
Certificate IV or higher in Accounting / Bookkeeping (or currently studying)
At least 2–3 years of experience in a similar financial administration or accounts receivable role
Strong communication and negotiation skills with confidence in liaising with clients
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Working knowledge of Xero and confidence in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
Experience in the engineering, construction, or consulting industry (highly regarded)
Familiarity with the Security of Payment Act (SOPA) is a bonus
