Tell me about your fabulous job..…
We are looking for a Paeds OT with greater than 5 years of paediatrics experience and at least 2 years in OT supervisory roles (paeds or elsewhere). (Our existing OT is moving across the ditch!)
This position would perfectly suit an OT who is looking for the next step up to lead a small clinical team of 6-7 clinicians with mixed experience levels. Someone who is ready to stretch their supervisory and leadership skills.
This is a job for an OT who loves working with kids. Passion is everything!
An OT who thrives on providing high quality therapy through play and a keen interest in supporting and educating families and staff.
There are a lot of jobs out there. Why is yours so good?
We offer a supportive, close-knit team of 7 OTs. Established 14 years ago, (pre-NDIS) we've had a long time to refine our systems, support and resources. We are not a new start up.
We have lots of laughs and look after each other carefully. We spend a lot of waking hours together - you have to love coming to work!
We are open to both full time and part time interest.
Why is this job any different from other paeds OT jobs?
We do not focus on KPIs or numbers. We work closely with families to support their understanding of their child's needs and therapeutic approaches. (We use a neurodevelopmental learning approach).
We value every staff member as equal and encourage career progression and celebrate achievements. You will not experience any sense of pressure to meet numbers, or any sense of competition from colleagues.
We are here to provide a high-quality health service. (We are not running a business that happens to employ health professionals.)
How do I know I will be supported?
As a business owned and run by an OT, we understand and value clinical support and supervision. We offer clinical skills and professional skills supervision as well as peer mentoring and external clinical excellence support.
Your support as senior will be provided by an OT with over 25 years' experience in OT and leadership.
Interesting. Where are you?
In the Redlands (south-east of Brisbane city, on the coast) - the launching point for Moreton Bay. We run three clinics:
Capalaba (local to all shops, easy parking and quick access via main roads).
Victoria Point (low traffic and easy parking - and, just around the corner from the beach- actually!).
Cleveland (central, near shops and a playground).
Our positions work across more than one clinic to maximise team cohesion and skill sharing.
Working in the Redlands means you get to drive away from city traffic.
What does Squish Kids want from me?
As a cohesive team, we are looking for someone who is keen to learn and who wants to be part of a small and very effective team. We value open communication and kindness.
We are looking for a clinician who brings a passion for paeds OT. We love initiative and enthusiasm.
Someone who leads with compassion, educates with clarity and supports staff to work at their best. A great fit with our current leadership team (practice owner/OT and practice manager).
What else?
We outreach to local schools, Kinder and Day Care as each child needs. We provide in-home (or in-park!) therapy determined by the best environment for the kids.
We use telehealth where it works / as needed.
We offer professional and clinical support, supervision and professional development (including a PD allowance and PD days). We work closely with other professionals and local businesses.
We have a team of admin and therapy aides to back you up. We eliminate as much admin from your week as we can.
Our caseload predominately includes kids with ASD, developmental delay, ADHD, sensory integration issues and anxiety, as well as genetic conditions and some physical / neurological conditions.
OK. I want to know more….
We are happy to put you in touch with current staff so you can find out what they really think – pros and cons.
Feel free to visit one or all of the clinics and have a look around. And check out our website: www.squishkids.com.au, Facebook (Squish Kids) and Instagram (@squishkidsot)
Great! When can I start?
Ideally mid-August. We would like to facilitate a thorough, two-week handover period with our current OT.
I am interested enough to apply!
Send through your application (include three referees, their phone and email contacts) with a cover letter (tell us a bit about you).
Send it from here or email directly to our lovely Practice Manager Mikayla at [email protected]
Got questions that we didn't answer? Email them to the same place.
Thank you for reading.
