As our current Group Financial Controller prepares to transition out, we’re looking for a strong financial leader to take the reins and bring clarity, rigour and insight to our finance function.

About the Role

Reporting to the CFO and partnering closely with the General Manager and operational leaders, you’ll be responsible for managing all aspects of finance across the group. From monthly reporting and budgeting to systems ownership, internal controls and site engagement—this is a role for someone who enjoys both the strategic and the hands-on.

The role is based in Sydney (preferred) with regular travel to our farm sites (approx. monthly). There may be the opportunity to transition into the role of CFO for suitably qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver monthly financial and variance reports with clear commentary in collaboration with aggregation managers

Assist CFO and GM in budgeting, forecasting, and board reporting processes

Oversee accounting operations including AP/AR, payroll, capex tracking, and balance sheet reconciliations

Maintain financial models, financial statements, and year-end documentation

Ensure compliance with GST/BAS, payroll tax, FBT, income tax, and workers compensation obligations

Manage monthly finance processes including:

Balance sheet reviews

Fuel, grain, fair value, and seed-on-hand reconciliations

Monthly accruals and manual journals

Budget analysis and capex/R&M reviews

Payroll review and batch payments

GST/BAS lodgement

Collaborate with the GM, Commercial Manager, and CFO on capital projects and business planning

Champion finance systems and process improvements to drive automation and efficiency

Travel to aggregation sites in NSW and Tasmania will be required from time to time

About You

CA/CPA qualified, with a tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business

5+ years’ experience in a senior finance role—ideally in agribusiness, farming, or a multi-site environment

Advanced Excel skills with strong financial modelling and analysis capabilities

Experience with Xero preferred

Strong knowledge of Australian statutory compliance and payroll systems

Excellent communicator with the ability to engage effectively at all levels—from boardroom to paddock

Hands-on, proactive, and with good interpersonal skills
