About the role:

As the Design / Steel Detailing Manager, you’ll lead our steel detailing function and mentor a team of detailers working on commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. You’ll manage workloads, ensure drafting accuracy and compliance, and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient steel solutions.

Key responsibilities:

Manage and motivate a steel detailing team

Produce and review workshop drawings using Tekla and AutoCAD

Work closely with engineers, architects, and clients to finalise structural details

Ensure compliance with Australian standards and company protocols

Drive continuous improvement in documentation and design processes

Report to senior management and manage project file systems

Identify and resolve design issues proactively

What you’ll need:

Engineering/drafting qualification or trade-qualified with 2+ years in steel detailing

Advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures and AutoCAD

Strong understanding of steel manufacturing and structural detailing standards

Excellent communication, time management and problem-solving skills

Experience leading or mentoring teams (desirable)

High attention to detail and strong drafting presentation skills

Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings

Knowledge of relevant codes and fabrication best practices
