Financial Accountant – Trust & Fund Accounting Focus
Location: Melbourne, VIC
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: $100,000 + Superannuation

Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to take the lead on trust and fund accounting functions. This role plays a vital part in supporting the financial operations of sophisticated investment vehicles, including Separately Managed Accounts and Australian Unit Trusts.

You'll join a collaborative team working at the intersection of finance and technology, engaging with global hedge funds and financial institutions to deliver accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and insightful analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee end-to-end accounting for Australian Unit Trusts and offshore SMAs.

Maintain accurate trust accounting records, including distributions, unit pricing, and NAV calculations.

Liaise with prime brokers, custodians, and fund administrators to reconcile trust and fund activity.

Ensure ongoing compliance with Australian and US financial regulations (e.g., AFSL, NFA, AUSTRAC).

Deliver timely and compliant financial reporting in line with Australian Accounting Standards.

About You:

You bring proven experience in trust accounting, ideally within an investment, wealth management, or fund services environment.

Solid background in fund accounting with a strong understanding of managed investment schemes.

CPA/CA qualification or working towards it is preferred.

You’re confident working independently and thrive in a high-performing, fast-moving environment.

Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
