Our Client
Our Client is looking for Heavy Diesel Mechanic's to join their team. The Heavy Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair offleet of heavy vehicles, plant, and equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with statutory regulations. The role involves conducting preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnosing mechanical faults, and maintaining accurate service records.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance of heavy vehicles, trucks, plant, and equipment.
Identify worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
· Maintain accurate service logs and equipment maintenance records.
· Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical components.
· Carry out mechanical repairs, including overhauls, component replacements, and fabrication where necessary.
· Use diagnostic tools and equipment to test repaired vehicles and ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
· Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment in accordance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies. Ensure workshop tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
· Ensure all repairs and maintenance work meets Australian safety and environmental regulations.
· Comply with Council’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies, including hazard reporting and risk assessments.
· Adhere to Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).
Start/Finish Time: 09:00 - 17:30
Work Pattern: Mon - Fri
Hours Per Week: 40.00 hours
Essential Criteria:
· Trade Certificate in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or equivalent qualification.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in servicing, diagnosing, and repairing heavy vehicles, trucks, and mobile plant.
· Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
· Experience with diagnostic tools and electronic control modules (ECMs).
· Current HR Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong record-keeping and administrative skills for maintaining service logs.
· Understanding of Work Health & Safety (WHS) regulations and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
Desirable:
· Heavy Vehicle Registration Inspector (HVRAS or HVIS)
· Welding and fabrication experience.
· Previous experience Heavy Diesel fleet maintenance environment.
