The opportunity
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Credit Underwriter to join our Credit Operations team on a full-time 12-month contract to provide relief for an employee on parental leave. As a Credit Underwriter you will review and assess the viability and credit risk of personal loans, line of credit and home loan applications.
Key responsibilities
Liaise with and support frontline lenders who have submitted a loan application assessing the viability and credit risk of lending proposals.
Support frontline lenders to ensure there is a clear understanding of lending guidelines as set out in Credit policy and procedure.
Assess and approve loan applications within delegation limits, ensuring decisions meet Credit standards and compliance obligations under the Credit risk framework.
Prepare loan files and forward these to Credit Support for document preparation and funding, ensuring unit SLAs are met.
Establish daily and monthly work goals and agreed priorities in liaison with management and provide assistance to the Credit Support team where required.
What we are looking for
Demonstrated experience across residential mortgage, line of credit and personal lending including the application process, assessing affordability, valuations, mortgage insurance, compliance obligations, etc.
A current or previously held delegation to approve mortgages (preferred) or other consumer loan.
Highly developed analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and a passion for providing the highest level of service to all stakeholders.
Able to increase productivity to meet peak work periods and meet deadlines.
Adaptable to change, including changes to processes and technology.
