About the role

Banksia Civil Hire is seeking an experienced Leading Hand - Civil Operator to join our dynamic team in Darwin, NT. As a Leading Hand, you will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of our civil construction projects, ensuring efficient and high-quality work is delivered. This full-time position will see you working onsite, managing a team of skilled operators and labourers.

What you'll be doing

Supervising a team of civil construction workers, including operators and labourers

Planning & executing projects to industry standards

Coordinating daily work activities and delegating tasks to ensure project deadlines are met

Monitoring work quality and productivity, providing guidance and support to the team

Identifying and resolving any issues or bottlenecks that arise, escalating where necessary

Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards and company policies

Maintaining accurate records and reporting on project progress

Providing feedback and recommendations for process improvements

What we're looking for

Extensive experience as a Leading Hand or Supervisor in the civil construction industry

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of civil construction workers

Extensive competency and experience in a range of equipment including 3D GPS & UTS products

Strong operational knowledge of civil construction equipment and techniques

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Commitment to workplace health and safety

Relevant construction industry certifications or qualifications
