FORWAARD Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Head of Operations (HOO) who will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Executive Officer in strategic and operational leadership. FORWAARD supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in reconnecting with their families and community following drug and/or alcohol-related difficulties through our holistic, culturally safe, and person- and community-centered programs and supports.
This is a full-time (38 hours per week) position based in our Stuart Park office. The Head of Operations role is essential to driving organisational success through the management of key operational functions, staff management, fostering stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality, culturally responsive, and evidence-based services.
Duties and responsibilities:
Operate effectively alongside the CEO in driving strategic leadership, including identifying opportunities for growth, sustainability, and innovation, and providing oversight of AOD programs and service delivery.
Lead operational excellence in ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance, supporting financial planning and budget management, and developing and implementing systems to monitor and improve operational performance.
Champion culturally appropriate, inclusive, and competent practices throughout all organisational policies, programs, and services.
Act as a key liaison between staff, external stakeholders, and community partners, and represent FORWAARD at meetings, conferences, and events in sponsoring strong relationships and advocating for organisational priorities.
Mentor, manage, and support teams to build leadership capacity, enhance staff performance, and promote an organisational culture that aligns with FORWAARD's values, mission, and goals.
Essential criteria:
Cultural competence and a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and contemporary challenges.
Leadership Experience.
Demonstrated success in strategic development and organisational growth initiatives.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; strong organisational capabilities.
Experience overseeing budgets, financial reports, and operational financial practices.
Demonstrated experience in supervising and developing teams.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and partner organisations.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex issues and implement effective solutions.
Knowledge of compliance and governance requirements relevant to the organisation.
Experience in managing/overseeing contracts to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.
Ability to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the organisation.
Proficiency in identifying and managing risks to ensure the organisation's stability and growth.
