About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for two Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join our world-leading School of Psychology to support research into the areas of parenting and family psychology.

Working with Professor Alina Morawska, you will have the opportunity to support the vital work being undertaken at UQ's Parenting and Family Support Centre. You'll have the chance to take on leadership and contribute to service and engagement activities while managing a range of research projects in the area/s of parenting and family psychology, or clinical/developmental child psychology.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Energetically drive research projects, seek and support applications for competitive research funding, publish in reputable journals and utilise best practice research methodologies.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students and provide performance feedback, training and mentoring to supervisees and research support staff.
  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, engage in internal and external service roles, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You

Our ideal candidates will possess:

  • Completion or submission of a PhD in the area of parenting and family psychology, or clinical/developmental child psychology.
  • Experience in delivering and evaluating evidence-based parenting interventions in conjunction with an understanding of public health approaches to psychological intervention.
  • An emerging research profile in the area/s of parenting and family psychology, or clinical/developmental child psychology, particularly in the areas of child screen use, gendered parenting and/or child schooling as evidenced by publications in reputed refereed journals and presentations at conferences.
  • Experience in and evidence of contributions towards writing grant proposals to funding agencies or government.
  • Advanced knowledge, training and experience using statistical analysis.
  • Experience in project management and working on field projects in the parenting field, and/or experience in working on large scale projects using administrative data.
  • Relevant experience in evaluating parenting or family interventions with a focus on understanding mechanisms of change and engagement.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from a multidisciplinary background.

Please note, you must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of these appointments to apply (employer-sponsored work rights are not available for these appointments). Successful candidates will also be required to hold and maintain a Working with Children (Blue Card).
