Child and Family Counsellor

Employment Term: Permanent full-time

Location: Currently located at Broadbeach with a move to Southport expected in the coming weeks

Remuneration: From $97k + 11.5% Super + $15,900 Not for Profit Salary Packaging

Your part in our UnitingCare team

We are currently seeking a Child and Family Counsellor to provide an integrated counselling to families with children and young people under 18 years, including unborn children, who find themselves in vulnerable situations and do not require statutory intervention.
It aims to:
• Improve the wellbeing and safety of children, young people and their families.
• Build the capacity of families to nurture, care for and protect their children.
• Provide linkages to local universal support services/community groups to enable families to access the resources to build their capacity to solve problems and make positive choices and changes.
• Prevent entry or re-entry to the statutory child protection system.

What makes a difference for us?

Ability to articulate knowledge of current practice and theories of working effectively with children, young people and their families.

Demonstrated experience and knowledge in therapeutic and counselling skills, case management, family therapy and parenting skills that is applicable to children, young people and their families who find themselves in vulnerable situations.

Experience and working knowledge and understanding of the Queensland Child Protection system and or ability to establish working relationships with a team and other key agencies in strengthening effective outcomes for clients.

Demonstrated high standard of proficiency in oral and written communication that includes concise assessment and case progress notes.

Additionally you will have:

Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or Behavioural Science from a recognised tertiary institution and demonstrated skills and sound knowledge gained through substantial experience in a similar role.

Current Drivers Licence

Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
