Director - Stakeholder Engagement
Full-time - Senior Executive
About the Role
A leading consultancy specialising in urban planning, public policy, and strategic advisory is seeking an experienced Director of Stakeholder Engagement to lead the design and delivery of high-impact engagement strategies, while also playing a central role in winning new work and deepening client relationships.
This position sits at the intersection of strategy, influence, and growth. It’s a unique opportunity to shape some of Australia’s most complex urban and infrastructure projects, working alongside a nationally recognised team of experts.
The Role
As Director, you will lead integrated stakeholder and community engagement across major projects, while also driving business development, proposal leadership, and client growth. You will be a key face of the business in Sydney and beyond, helping to define the firm’s presence in the market through thought leadership, trusted advisory, and strong commercial instincts.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee delivery of engagement strategies across infrastructure, precinct, policy, and planning projects.
- Provide strategic advice to government and private sector clients on complex political, regulatory, and social landscapes.
- Lead the pursuit of new business opportunities, responding to tenders, nurturing key client relationships, and contributing to pipeline development.
- Represent the consultancy at industry forums and high-level stakeholder meetings.
- Manage and grow a high-performing team of engagement specialists and advisors.
- Contribute to the firm’s national leadership group, helping shape strategic priorities and practice growth.
About You
You are a strategic thinker, accomplished communicator, and commercially minded leader. You’ve built your reputation by delivering thoughtful, inclusive engagement and forging trusted relationships with senior clients. Just as importantly, you know how to turn insight and opportunity into business growth.
You Will Bring:
- 10+ years’ experience in stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, or public affairs—preferably within infrastructure, planning, or policy environments.
- A proven track record in winning and delivering high-value consulting engagements or government commissions.
- Strong networks and market knowledge across government, infrastructure, or urban development sectors.
- Deep understanding of public sector dynamics, community engagement principles, and political risk.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and confidence in high-stakes conversations with executives, communities, and media.
- Leadership experience with the ability to mentor, motivate and grow a team.
Why Join?
This is a rare opportunity to influence the future of cities and communities, while taking a senior role in a high-performing consultancy known for its impact and integrity. You’ll enjoy a strong professional culture, flexible working arrangements, and the chance to shape work that truly matters.
