Roses in the Ocean is a national not for profit organisation founded on and operating through the lens of lived experience of suicide; we exist to save lives and to reduce emotional distress and pain. We seek to lead the significant cultural shift needed to save lives through harnessing the perspectives of all we represent, along with our own lived experience of suicide. With our actions driven and guided by those with a lived experience of suicide, we innovate and transform suicide prevention, and drive and deliver system reform. We support organisations and government to effectively and meaningfully integrate lived experience expertise into suicide prevention.

Everyone who works within Roses in the Ocean has a lived experience of suicide which is defined as ‘having experienced suicidal thoughts, survived a suicide attempt, supported a loved one through suicidal crisis, or been bereaved by suicide.’

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Lived Experience Organisational Design, this role is central to building and nurturing strong relationships with key stakeholders and leading co-design initiatives with people who have a lived experience of suicide. Additionally, this role will develop and maintain Roses in the Ocean’s relationships with Primary Health Networks across Australia in conjunction with staff who hold existing relationships and introducing various Roses in the Ocean teams as and when specific opportunities are identified. Acting as a vital conduit between stakeholders and the work undertaken by the CEO and Head of Lived Experience Organisational Design, this role will support sector organisations, suicide prevention services and government departments to meaningfully integrate and partner with people with a lived experience of suicide.

The role will focuses on deepening current relationships and forge new ones with a view to identifying where Roses in the Ocean can add value and assess our suitability for involvement with stakeholders to support suicide prevention activity, advocacy and system reform. Additionally, it will contribute to project management activities within the Lived Experience Organisational Design portfolio and support the continual development and improvement of resources and service offerings to meet the changing needs of community and organisations.

Responsibilities include:

In collaboration with the Head of Lived Experience Organisational Design, develop and nurture strong partnerships, including facilitating consultation, with a range of stakeholders, including community groups, service provider organisations, Primary Health Networks, business and the private sector, and government departments

Manage project administration and implementation to ensure the successful delivery of project outcomes within agreed timeframes

Prepare high quality written work with content tailored for diverse audiences, for example, briefs, discussion papers, correspondence, and presentations.

Planning, procuring, and managing the effective and efficient conduct of projects, consultancies, or contracts to ensure the work is of a high quality

Contract management and ensuring projects are meeting contractual obligations

Develop an understanding of Roses in the Ocean’s Lived Experience Organisational Design work such that opportunities can be discussed and identified with potential stakeholders.

Contribute to the further development of resources, processes and service offerings for Roses in the Ocean clients.

Contribute to the evaluation of Lived Experience Organisational Design.

Maintain a deep understanding of the needs of people with lived experience of suicide and how their expertise can be embedded throughout organisations.

Contribute to Roses in the Ocean’s ongoing thinking of how to influence an ideal authorising environment for genuine lived experience partnership across all aspects of suicide prevention.

Identify opportunities to build and maintain relationships and partnerships with relevant stakeholders to increase the awareness and presence of Roses in Ocean activities and services.

Identify stakeholder partnerships with scope to connect with the CEO or relevant leadership team member to enhance integration of activities, opportunities for collaboration, formal partnerships or future funding opportunities.

Represent Roses in the Ocean at approved events, advisory groups and related activities, which may involve after-hours attendance and speaking engagements or presentations.

Ensure that relevant Monday.com boards are up to date to ensure a range of activities, meetings, partnerships and activities are tracked accurately.

Work with the Finance and Operations teams to understand and direct where necessary, the billing and invoicing requirements that pertain to your work activities, including assistance with financial and performance reporting activities where required.

This role requires strong proven skills and previous success in stakeholder engagement and partnership development, including the delivery of training, facilitation, project management, co-design and consultation.

Please note, if you live within the Brisbane greater region, there will be an expectation for you to work a Hybrid model, 2 days from home, 3 days in our office located in Newstead. If you live in regional Queensland or Interstate you can work remotely from home.

About You

You’ll bring with you:

A lived experience of suicide and an understanding of the impact it has on families, workplaces, friends and communities.

Demonstrated. experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership development

Previous experience in delivering training and facilitation.

Demonstrated experience in project management, co-design and consultation

Experience in managing competing priorities, complex tasks and coordinating activities.

High-level written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate and liaise effectively and sensitively at all levels, both internally and externally.

Demonstrated capacity to maintain confidentiality and professional standards of behaviour in difficult and sensitive circumstances.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

Demonstrated time-management, logistics and problem-solving skills.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Office 365, Monday.com and SharePoint
