ABOUT THE ROLE
Drive financial excellence in Defence contracts—lead invoicing, reporting & budgeting for Wodonga TAFE’s JTTTS projects. Be the expert we rely on.
The Contract Accountant provides high-level direction and expert advice on financial management and accounting support services for the JTTTS contracts. This includes ensuring accurate invoicing, financial reporting, and budgeting in line with Wodonga TAFE’s accounting practices.
A key part of the role is ensuring compliance with complex Defence Contract requirements and that all financial data is correctly allocated and reported.
Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the Manager Defence Support Services and Executive Director Training Transformation Solutions, the role is responsible for advising on invoicing and contract financial management—ensuring a consistent and standardised approach across all JTTTS contracts.
Selected Duties:
Manage invoicing processes for Defence clients and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ad hoc reports.
Prepare and review budgets, cash flow forecasts, accruals, and financial analysis to support decision-making.
Provide finance support and coaching to Defence Delivery teams on financial systems and contract management.
Offer financial insight and technical guidance while ensuring compliance with all contract and regulatory obligations.

Skills & Experience

Relevant Degree qualifications; or lesser formal Accounting qualifications with extensive experience; or equivalent combination relevant extensive experience and/or education. (Qualifications).
Knowledge of statutory and regulatory compliance requirements for a Victorian Government Owned organisation.
Must be an Australian Citizen to be able to gain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance
Desirable: Post graduate qualification (CPA, CA or equivalent).
Knowledge of statutory and regulatory compliance requirements for Defence or Commonwealth contracts.
VET sector and/or government accounting experience.
Technology One Finance Systems experience.
