Join the Finance Team at Norman Carriers (Aust) Pty Ltd – Contract Role for FY26
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Business Services Accountant to join our team on a 12-month full-time contract for the 2025/26 financial year.
This newly created role will support our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) by managing day-to-day accounting and payroll functions, enabling greater focus on strategic financial leadership. You will work closely with internal departments and external advisors to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency during a key period of business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and post monthly journals, accruals, and prepayments
Maintain the general ledger and perform balance sheet reconciliations
Manage fixed asset accounting, including lease accounting
Support month-end and year-end close processes
Assist with management reports, variance analysis, and board reporting
Payroll Processing
End-to-end payroll processing in compliance with relevant awards and legislation
Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate payroll data and records
Ensure timely PAYG, superannuation, and leave accrual compliance
Address payroll queries and support audit reviews
Compliance & Audit Preparation
Assist the CFO with statutory compliance and audit requirements
Maintain fixed asset register and prepare audit schedules and documentation
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets and forecasts
Support financial modelling and cost analysis to inform business decisions
Stakeholder Support
Provide accurate and timely financial insights to operational teams
Work collaboratively with accounts payable and receivable functions
Process Improvement
Recommend and implement improvements to streamline accounting and payroll processes
About You:
Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
CPA/CA qualification is an advantage
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar accounting role
Proven experience managing payroll processes
Strong understanding of Australian accounting and payroll legislation
Advanced spreadsheet skills and proficiency with accounting systems (Xero experience highly regarded)
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
