About the Role
The Senior Learning Designer is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality learning resources within AIM’s course offering. This role will require experience with converting paper-based source content into visually engaging and interactive online courses from end-to-end.
Please note, this role will require a proficient design background, particularly in print (workbooks) and image creation (process and relational diagrams, charts, etc).
This is a fixed-term contract for 1 year.
Key Accountabilities
Learning Experience
Continuously improve pedagogical and user experience elements of digital learning offerings to ensure they are rich, interactive, and adaptive to student needs.
Innovate and implement approaches that address subject-specific challenges and enhance the quality of the learning experience.
Develop appropriately detailed storyboards for animations, to be completed by a graphic designer.
Regularly assess and apply best practices to improve the overall quality and engagement of the digital learning experience.
Design modular digital learning experiences that align with AIM’s goal of offering stackable and flexible content that can be reused and repurposed across different products.
Ensure adherence to design templates and rules for each subject to ensure efficiency and easy adaptivity.
Stakeholder Management
Manage and engage subject stakeholders effectively by following a structured workflow that includes collaboration with academic staff, subject stakeholders, and other relevant project dependencies.
Ensure stakeholders are actively involved in the development process and that their feedback is incorporated to meet project goals and deliverables.
Monitor and report on stakeholder engagement and satisfaction, with feedback reviewed monthly to inform ongoing improvements.
Timely delivery
Ensure all subject deliverables are completed on time, in line with project plans, and aligned with the College’s goal of offering all theory subjects digitally.
Track progress according to project timelines and status updates to ensure deadlines are met.
Provide weekly progress reports, ensuring transparency and accountability in the delivery of subject content.
Qualifications & Training
Essential
A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in designing and developing online and/or blended learning materials, preferably in an accredited (vocational or higher) education setting. Placements or honours during studies will be considered.
Optional
An undergraduate qualification in instructional/learning design, graphic design or related field.
Experience Required
Essential
Experience in researching and understanding subject matter from various disciplines and topics.
Experience in online instruction and academic writing or relevant subject matter.
Desirable
Proficient design skills for creating decorative images and print workbooks.
Strong knowledge of curriculum design and higher education, best practices in teaching delivery and assessment.
Experience with authoring tools, web-based collaboration environments, authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS).
Knowledge/Skills
Strong understanding of how students learn in an online asynchronous environment.
Knowledge of pedagogical and andragogical learning principles and other learning design philosophies, strategies, and theories.
Knowledge of how to adapt online learning materials for blended delivery.
Strong writing skills with a creative and engaging style.
Proficient with Adobe In-Design and Illustrator, or equivalent programs.
Ability to tailor writing and design to different learner audiences.
Analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills for identifying user needs, proposing solutions, and organising complex information.
Ability to manage content creation and delivery, from course outline to market release.
Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Stakeholder communication and small-scale project management.
Attention to detail and quality assurance in learning design.
Able to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
