About the Role
This position is a 2-years-fixed-term contract.
The Learning Designer will be assisting Director of Learning and Teaching and Vice President (Academic) in providing leadership in evaluating, developing and adopting appropriate teaching and learning pedagogies, resources and technologies for online and blended courses to enhance teaching quality and student learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
Work with Director of Learning and Teaching, Vice President (Academic), HOSs/HOPs, and teachers on the design of curriculum, assessment, delivery, and pedagogical approaches.
Lead the evaluation and implementation of current and emerging face-to-face and online course design best practices and innovative pedagogical approaches
Develop innovative and successful courses and subjects (including face-to-face, blended learning, and online) by adopting appropriate education technology, contemporary curriculum and assessment design and pedagogical approaches (including considerations and solutions for dealing with rapidly evolving academic integrity issues caused by Artificial Intelligence applications)
Develop online learning objects to support learning and student engagement and train and support academics to implement these in their teaching
Assist in overseeing the utilisation and implementation of subject outlines and teaching materials for Diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate subjects and ensure that equivalence is maintained with the partner institution outlines and teaching materials
Support the Director of Learning and Teaching and VP (Academic) in maintaining standards which ensure that KOI upholds an appropriate level of quality delivery of learning and teaching according to the needs and expectations of the KOI Academic Board, AIBM Council, partner institutions, regulatory agencies, students and other stakeholders
Support the Director of Learning and Teaching and VP (Academic), in governance, legislative and compliance operations in accordance with the ESOS Act (2000), the National Code and the National Protocols; State Higher Education acts; the Higher Education Support Act (2003), and the requirements of all external regulators such as TEQSA, State Education authorities and partner institutions
About You
The successful candidate will possess:
Postgraduate qualifications
Good understanding of Learning and Teaching in Australian Higher Education Sector
Demonstrated knowledge of visa regulations by the Department of Home Affairs & ESOS regulations relating to higher education industry/providers
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working within TEQSA standards and AQF guidelines
Experience in designing learning academic resources for face-to-face teaching, blended learning, and online learning
Experience in working with learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard) and course design applications/systems (for text, audio, video, and interactive content)
Demonstrated user-centred course design experience
Minimum of two to three years’ experience in an international higher education provider
Demonstrated record of innovation, achievement and quality improvement in teaching
Experience in working with staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Experience in analysing data, creating reports and making recommendations
Knowledge & Skills
Extensive knowledge of current and emerging digital technologies for teaching and learning and creative approach to student engagement.
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and Google Docs suites, student database management and proficient typing abilities
Familiarity with relevant information services and technologies (e.g. Moodle, TechOne).
Proficiency with authoring tools (e.g. Articulate, iSpring, H5P, Captivate) and media editing tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Captiva)
Ability to work within a team environment and drive the team to meet the goals of the institute and department
Ability to work with individuals from multi-cultural backgrounds by adapting approach
Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders in varying environments
Demonstrated high level of organisation, time management and prioritising skills to meet tight deadlines
Extensive liaison and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster relationships and partnerships that extend and develop the activities of the Institute
A demonstrated record of innovation, achievement and quality improvement in teaching
Sound knowledge of compliance and industry regulations
Demonstrated ability for effective and complex problem-solving, analysing and decision-making skills within the scope of this position
Capacity to develop, apply and monitor best practice and innovative strategies with respect to teaching and learning
Ability to adapt to a dynamic and changing working environment and show initiative where required
Demonstrated empathy when dealing with student situations
Demonstrated capacity to maintain confidentiality and privacy
