ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Libraries team operate eight (8) locations across the Cumberland LGA and assist customers and members of the public with locating materials, answering questions and providing guidance on research strategies.

The team also hold a wide variety of events across these locations, ranging from educational and cultural programs to social and community-building activities.

This position assists in the planning and delivery of activities and services for children and young people over all Cumberland Library locations.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Diploma – Library / Information Studies and / or relevant experience
  • Eligible for Library Technician membership of ALIA
  • High level of interpersonal and customer service skills and experience
  • Well-developed literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills
  • Well-developed computer and keyboard skills
  • Experience and interest in presenting programs and activities for children and young people including lapsit programs and storytelling
  • Valid Working With Children Check

About this role:

  • 1x full-time, temporary contract, up to 12 months (ending 30 June 2026).
  • Working 70-hours per fortnight, on a roster between 8:00am to 8:00pm, Monday to Saturday.
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
  • Predominately located at Council's Merrylands, Auburn, Granville and Wentworthville library, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 8 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,336.51 to $1,536.98 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
  • Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
