St John's College is a Catholic secondary learning community established by the Good Samaritan Sisters in 1940. About the opportunity

St John's College, Nambour, invites applications from innovative, professional and relational educators for a full-time continuing position that includes teaching Senior Health and Years 7-10 Physical Education, with the added responsibility of Year Level Pastoral Middle Leader (Tier 2C).
This is a highly valued leadership role at the College, central to supporting student wellbeing, safety, and a strong sense of belonging. The successful applicant will lead with care and clarity, work collaboratively within a contemporary Catholic learning environment, and contribute meaningfully to our culture of excellence and inclusion.

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Creating a nurturing and ordered learning environment that is learner-centred, supportive, cooperative, and aligned with relevant curriculum policies, documents and practices
  • Collaboratively developing and implementing quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy; evaluating their effectiveness; assessing and reporting student progress and learning outcomes; and reporting these to students, parents and the community
  • Working collaboratively with the leadership team, teachers and other staff members in contributing to the professional life of the school and fostering a positive school culture
  • Proactively engaging with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Establishing positive relationships in the pastoral care of students and supporting their spiritual and moral development
  • Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Creating a supportive, learner-focused classroom aligned with the Australian Curriculum
  • Expertise in designing and delivering effective curriculum programs in line with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to enrich learning experiences and achieve the best educational outcomes for students
  • A passion to support students' spiritual and moral development
  • A dynamic and expert educator with a passion for precision pedagogy, high expectation, student wellbeing and pastoral care.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications
  • Proven ability to lead with empathy and professionalism.
  • A commitment to Catholic Education, the mission of St John's College and safeguarding community members
  • For this position you are not required to be Catholic.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
