THE OPPORTUNITY
Salary: $60,416 - $65,237 per annum pro rata + 11.5% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).
Position Status and Time Fraction: Full-Time 1.0 EFT, Fixed-Term contract of employment until 31 December 2025.
Location: Chadstone campus - onsite parking and easy access to public transport.
The Holmesglen Carpentry Department is committed to cultivating the next generation of skilled carpentry professionals through a combination of comprehensive education and immersive, hands-on training. Our programs are designed to reflect current industry standards and practices, creating a dynamic learning environment that closely replicates real-world construction settings. We provide structured training pathways that support students from their initial post-secondary education through to full qualification as professional carpenters. With a strong emphasis on excellence, industry relevance, and practical experience, our department is dedicated to developing highly capable, confident, and job-ready graduates equipped to meet the evolving demands of the carpentry sector.
This Technical Officer’s primary objective is to support the efficient and effective operation of the Carpentry department. This includes the maintenance and management of tools and equipment to ensure they are available, functional, and safely used by both teaching staff and learners. The role also encompasses the responsibility for ensuring a consistent supply of relevant consumables to meet the ongoing needs of carpentry-related teaching activities.
ABOUT YOU
- Relevant education or equivalent experience in a similar role
- Valid Drivers Licence
- Forklift Licence or willing to obtain
- Experience in managing stores or workshops, including issuing, tracking, and maintaining tools, equipment, and consumables, and handling deliveries efficiently.
- Working knowledge of general electrical equipment, with the ability to perform basic repairs and assist in equipment testing and calibration.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to maintain records, manage stock, coordinate audits, and support workshop operations effectively.
- Proven ability to work independently, showing initiative in completing tasks such as maintenance, stock control, and equipment management.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with staff, contractors, and suppliers.
