About the role

Parliament Australia, The Office of Simon Kennedy MP, is seeking an experienced Events & Engagement Officer to join our busy team. This is a part-time role based in our Cronulla office.

The Events and Community Engagement Officer is responsible for driving meaningful engagement between the Member of Parliament (MP), constituents, community organisations and key stakeholders through high-quality events, community outreach, and campaigning. The role requires a motivated and well-organised individual with strong communication skills and political acumen.

What you'll be doing

Community Events & Outreach

Plan, coordinate, and deliver a calendar of impactful community events (e.g. forums, awards, listening posts).

Develop outreach strategies to connect with underrepresented or priority communities.

Build relationships with local organisations, multicultural groups, schools, small businesses, and advocacy groups.

Manage logistics including venues, catering, permits, AV, and guest coordination.

Collaborate with the communications team to promote events across social and local media.

Fundraising & High-Profile Events (Remunerated by the Federal Electorate Conference – FEC)

Plan and execute political fundraising events involving senior officials, ministers, donors, and business leaders.

Cultivate relationships with donors and sponsors to meet campaign fundraising goals.

Manage event budgets, ticketing, guest lists, and reporting requirements.

Ensure compliance with party and electoral regulations and maintain professional discretion.

FEC Support & Volunteer Coordination

Liaise with the local Liberal Party Federal Electorate Conference (FEC).

Maintain FEC membership records, process donations and expenses, and support internal communications.

Coordinate volunteer recruitment and engagement for events and campaign activities.

Provide regular updates and reports on financials and FEC activity.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

Maintain relationships with local service providers, schools, and businesses.

Work with the MP’s media team to share community stories and increase visibility.

Prepare post-event and engagement reports for the MP and senior staff.

Evaluate event success through attendance tracking and feedback analysis.

What we're looking for

At least 3 years' experience in events management, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, engaging events

Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to liaise with senior stakeholders

Creative flair and an eye for detail to bring events to life and create memorable experiences

Experience using event technology and event platforms

A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Desirable: An understanding of the parliamentary and government sector

Experience working with senior stakeholders, donors, or VIP guests.

Knowledge of compliance requirements related to political fundraising and campaign activities.

Experience using CRM software, ticketing platforms, or political databases.

Understanding of the local electorate and community landscape.
