About us
Dr David Saliba MP was elected to the NSW Legislative Assembly in 2023, representing a highly engaged constituency in the South West Sydney suburb of Fairfield. Our small, passionate Electorate Office team work to support the MP in a fast paced environment.
We provide one-on-one support to constituents as well as building good relationships with organisations and stakeholders.
About the position
The electorate office of Fairfield is the direct link to NSW State Parliament for local constituents, advocating on their behalf to various government and non-government agencies to deliver inclusive outcomes for the whole community.
The primary focus of the Electorate Officer (Communications & Engagement) is to is to develop and drive digital engagement through social media content creation and engage in community outreach, ensuring that stakeholders are informed and engaged with the work of the Member, and that the Member and his team are fully supported by the electorate office.
The Electorate Officer (Communications & Engagement) is also responsible for responding to constituent enquiries, maintaining an inclusive and accessible office, and providing crucial support to the Member and Senior Electorate Officer across a range of disciplines including communications.
The role requires some after hours and weekend work for which an annual All Incidence of Employment Allowance is paid. The position is for five days per week.

Key responsibilities
- Drive digital communication strategies including through social media content creation (e.g. designing, filming, editing) and effective social media management to reach and connect with a wider audience;
- Lead and execute proactive outreach initiatives, such as doorknocking campaigns and community forums, to directly engage with constituents and community groups, gather feedback, and build support;
- Lead the development and distribution of internal and external communications, ensuring consistent messaging and effective dissemination of relevant information to key stakeholders;
- Spearhead the planning and execution of stakeholder engagement events, taking ownership of all logistical aspects to maximise participation and positive engagement e.g. school parliament visits;
- Maintain excellent constituent relations by responding to enquiries promptly and respectfully, including email and other written correspondence, face-to-face interactions and phone liaison;
- Contribute to a welcoming and accessible office environment, assisting with administrative duties and ensuring the electorate office remains a comfortable and inclusive workspace for all;
- Assist the Local Member and Electorate Office team with local events and community engagement opportunities.
