Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

The National Disability and Insurance Agency (NDIA) is seeking candidates to fill APS6 Senior Events Officer vacancies.

The APS6 Senior Events Officer is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the NDIA’s objectives to build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the Design, Planning, and Delivery of face-to-face, virtual and hybrid events including accessibility requirements from planning to delivery and post event evaluation.
  • Providing strategic, logistical management and advice for the Agency, delivering proactive and nationally consistent engagement activities, including the provision of logistical support at external forums and events.
  • Coordinating and preparing event and engagement meeting briefs for high level stakeholders, supporting Minister and senior leadership attendance at events.
  • Managing procurement activity, budget tracking and financial records management.

Experience

  • Project Management: Proven track record of managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Vendor Relations: Experience in building and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Experience in promoting events through various channels, including social media and traditional marketing.
  • Crisis Management: Experience in handling unexpected issues and emergencies during events.

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Event Management, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Industry Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in event management.

While this role is ideally performed from Deakin ACT, Surry Hills NSW, Brisbane QLD, Adelaide SA, Geelong and Richmond VIC, and, Perth WA, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of an extension for a further 12 months maybe offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
