We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Safety & Compliance Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring our business adheres to client contractual requirements, external regulations, internal policies, and industry standards.
This role will oversee our safety and compliance requirements, assurance activities, and general administration of our operations.
While this role primarily focuses on our transport-related business, the safety component extends across all business sectors in our portfolio.
This is a full-time position based at our Canning Vale office but will require travel to our Maddington and Busselton sites.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:
Work Health & Safety (WHS):
Oversee and assist the WHS function in ensuring compliance with current legislative requirements and the implementation and adherence to company WHS policies and procedures.
Oversee and support the WHS Team in enhancing overall safety compliance across the business.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective application and verification of WHS processes on-site.
Prepare safety performance reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Coordinate safety initiatives and programs, ensuring a continuous focus on safety throughout the company.
Assist with incident investigations, corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution.
Suggest and implement improvements to enhance WHS practices within the company.
Assist with injury and illness management coordination, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
Compliance:
Oversee the Carriers Agreement for our transport subcontractors & ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies & procedures including but not limited to onboarding and document control.
Serve as the primary liaison between the business and our subcontracted workforce, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration
Ensure ongoing compliance with the Carriers Agreement including coordinating performance reviews for the subcontracted workforce.
Ensure awareness and compliance with all policies and procedures related to Western Australia Main Roads Heavy Vehicle Accreditation, covering areas such as Dimension & Loading, Vehicle Maintenance, Fatigue Management, Mass, and Speed.
Address non-conformances and take corrective actions where necessary.
Maintain a deep understanding of Compliance & Enforcement legislation and Chain of Responsibility requirements, promoting a compliant culture across the business.
Participate in internal and regulatory audit programs to ensure ongoing compliance.
Develop, implement, and monitor best-practice policies and procedures to maintain robust compliance frameworks.
Provide training and guidance to staff on regulatory changes and compliance matters.
Who we are looking for:
- Proven experience in a safety management or safety liaison role (3+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of WHS and other regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working at a client-managed site or in a collaborative contractor environment is a strong plus.
- Experience within the Australian transport industry
- Proven experience in compliance management and implementation, preferably in the transport or related industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in interpretation and application of legislation and relevant industry standards.
- Strong relationship building and influencing skills with all levels of internal & external stakeholders, together with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and experience supporting all business units.
- Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to align solutions to business requirements.
- Knowledge of Australian employment regulations and laws (desirable)
- Knowledge of Immigration regulations and laws (desirable)
- Internal or external audit experience with professional services organisation (desired).
