Safety Advisor (2692) – Permanent Full Time

About Us

The Livingstone Shire sits nestled along the beautiful Capricorn Coast and covers approximately 11,776 square kilometres, with a population of almost 41,000 residents. Livingstone Shire Council was created in 2013 and employs approximately 400 people.

Livingstone and the Capricorn Coast is a relaxed coastal environment in which connecting with family, friends and the community is a high priority. The area has an abundance of natural features including countless beaches with sheltered swimming, picturesque national parks, pristine rainforests and idyllic offshore islands, making it an ideal place to live. Our beaches, bushes and tropical rainforests are second to none and have been specifically preserved, designed and transformed to show the unique, untouched charm of Livingstone.

Livingstone Shire Council promotes a positive culture in the workplace with all staff demonstrating high standards of Accountability, Teamwork, Community, Potential and Positivity. These values and behaviours set the standard for Council and are embodied throughout the organisation.

The Role:

Are you a safety professional who doesn’t just tick boxes—but inspires others to think differently about safety?

We’re looking for a confident and collaborative Safety Advisor to join our team at Livingstone Shire Council. In this permanent, full-time role, you’ll be more than a compliance expert—you’ll be a trusted partner, a coach, and a catalyst for positive change.

Reporting to the Coordinator Safety, you’ll work across diverse teams and environments, helping to embed a culture where safety is second nature. You’ll bring people with you on the journey—building trust, sparking conversations, and turning safety from a checklist into a shared mindset.

In this role, you will:

Shape and evolve our Safety Management System so it’s practical, people-focused, and future-ready.

Deliver expert advice, training, and support in risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Lead WHS audits and site inspections that don’t just identify risks—but drive real action.

Investigate incidents with empathy and rigour, uncovering root causes and championing preventative solutions.

Be a visible, approachable presence—someone who listens, engages, and empowers others to take ownership of safety.

If you’re passionate about making safety meaningful and want to work where your influence truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

We’re after someone who brings both technical expertise and emotional intelligence to the table; someone who can connect with people, build trust, and lead by example.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

Hold a Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety, Diploma of WHS, or have equivalent experience in a dedicated safety role.

Have solid experience working in safety across large or complex organisations.

Are a natural communicator and influencer, you know how to tailor your message and bring people on board.

Have a proven track record in leading investigations and implementing practical, effective risk controls.

Hold a current driver’s licence, you’ll be out and about, not stuck behind a desk.

Benefits:

We believe that when you feel supported, you do your best work. Here’s what you can look forward to:

$94,341 per annum (QLGIA Stream A, Level 5)—plus the satisfaction of knowing your work makes a real difference both within Council and for the community.

Fortnightly RDOs—because balance matters.

12% superannuation—we’re invested in your future.

Salary packaging options—to help you make the most of your earnings.

A values-driven culture where safety, innovation, and continuous improvement are more than just words—they’re how we work, every day.

To apply for this position please address the selection criteria on the recruitment portal and supply a copy of your resume, qualifications/ licences.

Applications close Monday, 9 June 2025 at midnight (AEST).
