Equestrian Western Australia (EWA) is the State Sporting Organisation responsible for the development, promotion and governance of equestrian sport throughout Western Australia. EWA supports the Olympic Disciplines of Dressage, Eventing and Jumping, and the disciplines of Show Horse and Vaulting.

Sustainably managing the multi-million dollar 72 hectare State Equestrian Centre (SEC)

How you will assist us in growing our sport and maintaining our prestigious Facility

Equestrian Western Australia is seeking a dedicated and proactive SEC Caretaker to join the team at the State Equestrian Centre (SEC) in Brigadoon. This hands-on role is vital to the smooth and safe operation of the SEC, focusing on after-hours security, basic maintenance, emergency response, and general facility upkeep.

The successful applicant will work 24 hours per week on a rostered schedule, may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays, and serve as the primary point of contact for after-hours issues. Duties include securing the premises, reporting maintenance issues, assisting with irrigation, and responding to emergencies in accordance with SEC protocols.

As a Caretaker at the State Equestrian Centre, you will reside on-site in the comfortable single-storey Caretaker house, featuring 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a well size enclosed yard.

This position offers a competitive hourly rate, with a portion of the salary allocated to subsidise the rental cost of the Caretaker house including bills.

Additionally, a rental agreement for the accommodation will be required.

What we’re looking for (Part Time 24 hours per week)

Candidates applying for this role must have the following:

Previous experience in a maintenance, caretaker, or groundskeeping role.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Current First Aid Certificate.

Current Working with Children Check.

Current National Police Clearance.

Valid WA Driver’s Licence.

Basic computer literacy (e.g. Microsoft Office).

Western Australian White Card

Desirable Skills and/or Experience:

• Experience in emergency coordination and/or security roles.

• Familiarity with equestrian or sporting facility environments.

• Experience with irrigation systems, ride-on mowers, tractors, or similar equipment.

• Methodical and thorough work style.
