The Role
Aviation Support Systems Program Office (AvSSPO) is seeking a professional and motivated APS 5 Logistics Officer. This person will assist FRLE whose primary role is to manage the ADF’s flight recording and locating equipment in accordance with Defence Aviation Safety Policy.
The role includes:
- Contribute to various logistics management activities to provide support to units within Defence.
- Participate in the review and development of policies, procedures and processes for logistics management.
- Draft responses to correspondence, briefs and reports on logistics management.
- Understand and clarify logistics policy and legislation for stakeholders within Defence.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
- Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
- Interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Design solutions to issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.
About our Team
AvSSPO operates as an acquisition and sustainment management unit under the Navy Aviation, Aircrew Training and Commons Branch (NATC) which forms part of Joint Aviation Systems Division (JASD). JASD is one of 10 major divisions operating within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) inside the Department of Defence. This position is located in the Melbourne CBD.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated and experienced logistics professional with a strong understanding of logistics support to capability. They have a proven track record in MILIS / SAP S4HANA and demonstrable leadership skills.
The successful applicant will have:
- Working level awareness of Defence asset and inventory management ICT systems, and how to leverage them in a sustainment environment;
- Experience working usefully with both internal and external stakeholders;
- Experience dealing with classified documentation and handling classified equipment;
- Excellent communication and customer engagement skills, with attention to detail; and
- Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse team in a fast paced and highly variable environment,
- Experience working in Defence Aviation Logistics Management.
