Payroll Consultant | ASO5 | Adelaide | 3 - 6 Month Contract | Public Sector

Overview

Randstad is currently partnering with a reputable and high-performing public sector organisation to recruit an experienced Finance & Payroll Consultant (ASO5).

This role is suited to candidates with strong financial acumen and payroll experience who are confident working in collaboration with HR and operations teams. You will play a vital role in ensuring efficient payroll and workforce-related financial support across a workforce of approximately 100 permanent and 100 casual employees.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver timely and accurate payroll support, processing entitlements, allowances, and leave balances

Interpret and apply public sector employment conditions, awards, and enterprise agreements

Collaborate with HR and operational teams to ensure consistent and compliant payroll practices

Respond to internal stakeholders on payroll and finance-related queries with professionalism and clarity

Maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes

Assist in identifying opportunities for improving payroll and finance workflows

Support reporting and financial documentation as required

Skills & Experience Required

Demonstrated experience in payroll and finance operations, ideally within a government or large-scale workforce setting

Strong understanding of HR and employment-related financial terminology

Ability to interpret awards, enterprise agreements, and workforce entitlements

Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for liaising with staff at all levels

Proficiency with payroll and finance systems (e.g., TechOne, SAP, Chris21 - desirable)

High attention to detail, with sound organisational and documentation skills
