About the Role
A full time, permanent position for an experienced Operations Manager in our Adelaide Depot, working Monday to Friday and occasional Saturday morning.
You will be reporting directly to the Branch Manager and will be monitoring and guiding your operations team to deliver high utilisation and outstanding equipment presentation of our ever-growing fleet of trucks and semi-trailers
Purpose of the position
Manage and coordinate the workload of the Fleet Controllers and Driver to ensure customer requirements are met in a professional and efficient manner.
Liaise directly with the Workshop to ensure maximum equipment utilization is achieved through the most appropriate service and repair scheduling and in accordance with client pre-booked reservations.
Work directly with and ensure that the Branch Manager is kept informed of customer issues including COD accounts, pending equipment supply issues and strategies for improvement in equipment utilization.
Ensure any customer damage has been communicated to our customers in a timely manner. This includes requesting quotes from Workshop team and communicating this to our customers.
Assist with planned marketing strategies including telemarketing and direct contract with customers.
Responsibilities & Duties
Ensure that team members are encouraged, motivated, appraised and recognized for performance or non-performance accordingly. Provide both positive and negative feedback to the Branch Manager.
Ensure that an appropriate level of behavior is maintained within the office and that all staff are treated with respect.
Ensure all clients are treated in a manner conducive for them to repeat business with us.
Prepare quotations as requested by customers. Preparation and delivery of quotations to be in line with customers expected time frame.
Manage the long term hire contracts to ensure that conditions of hire are met including maintenance.
Be aware of COD customers that are in default and keep the Branch Manager informed prior to additional equipment being hired.
Ensure all Hire Agreements written by all branch staff are completed in full and all procedures for both hire and de-hire are enforced.
Manage the yard and ensure trailers are parked neatly and customers can maneuver freely whilst returning or collecting equipment.
Manage pro-actively operational systems procedures for controlling hire and de-hire, repairs and maintenance for plant and equipment and rolling stock and all general administration.
Ensure that hire equipment returned damaged is duly reported to the customer, Workshop Co-Ordinator and the repair costs are communicated and that those costs will be recouped.
Keep up to date with market trends; advise management of changes in competition, product availability or related matters and participate in the development of marketing policy.
Participate in the training of all staff to ensure cross functionality is achieved to cover for absenteeism, holidays and short term staff vacancies.
Work with the Branch Manager to ensure all business activities comply with relevant Acts and legal demands.
Provide reports to the Branch Manager when required and including regular input into weekly and monthly branch reporting systems.
You will be provided with a company mobile phone and be expected to participate in the rotating On-Call/After hours roster for breakdown assistance and hire enquiries.
Manage your own performance and motivate staff with a ‘lead by example’ style encouraging and appraising staff to create a cohesive team with high ongoing morale.
Key Responsibilities
Manage employee performance in line with company policy and procedures.
Comply with OH&S standards and all company policies and procedures.
Work closely with senior management
Assist with the preparation of end of month reports
Oversee all aspects of the operations and staff– fleet, detailing, cleaning, ready for hire.
Forge strong working relationships with the workshop team & all internal/external customers.
Ensure efficient allocation and optimal asset utilisation
Adopt a “hands on” approach to dealing with rental enquiries and all aspects of rental bookings
The successful candidate will possess the following:
A demonstrable experience in heavy transport equipment, rental experience will be considered a strong advantage
Computer literate – training will be given on our internal software rental system
Strong attention to detail
Friendly, confident, and outgoing personality
Excellent organisation skills
Ability to work in a close-knit team and work unsupervised
A "Can do" attitude is essential
Must be physically fit and healthy with ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug/alcohol screening
HC license would be preferred but not essential
