We follow the journey of a Seeing Eye Dog from their breeding and initial development as puppies, through their advanced training to ensure they can safely guide their future partners, to matching them with a client and finally ending with their happy retirement after eight years of dedicated service.

About the Opportunity

• Assess dogs suitability and train selected dogs to matching standards
• Support Seeing Eye Dogs Mobility Instructors to identify the best suitable match for each dog and client
• Train, coach, and support Trainee SED Trainers (as required)
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Seeing Eye Dogs program

About You

• Qualified as a Guide Dog Trainer with an organisation accredited by the International Guide Dog Federation.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including walking approx.12 kilometres a day in all weather, and handling young, active dogs.
• Understand and apply current animal welfare and dog training principles
• Current driver's licence and ability to travel independently and safely transport dogs and supplies is required
