Public Sector People are partnering with a high-profile State government Department in Townsville to recruit an experienced AO4 Program Engagement Officer for a temporary contract position until November 2026!

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to transformative capital works projects that are shaping the future of transport and infrastructure in Northern Queensland. You'll be part of a close-knit Customer and Stakeholder Management team, helping drive strategic, transparent, and community-focused engagement efforts.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Develop and implement communication and engagement strategies tailored to specific infrastructure projects
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, communities, and interest groups
• Prepare high-quality communication materials including newsletters, media releases, flyers, and construction updates
• Maintain and update project webpages and digital platforms (e.g., Social Pinpoint)
• Track and manage stakeholder feedback, correspondence, and issues using consultation management systems
• Provide responsive, on-the-ground support to ensure project information is delivered clearly, consistently, and proactively

About you:

• Previous experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, or communications—ideally within infrastructure or government sectors
• Strong writing and digital communication skills, with an eye for detail and clarity
• The ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with empathy and professionalism
• Organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
• A collaborative mindset and a genuine passion for community outcomes
